Dallas County Schools Board of Trustees appointed Rick Sorrells as its 10th Superintendent in 2003. Rick Sorrells has lived in the Dallas area his entire life and attended school in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD. After graduating from R.L. Turner High School, he attended North Texas State University where he received his B. A. degree. In 1993 he received his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Dallas and continued his education receiving his teacher certification from the University of Dallas. He is currently completing his Doctorate at Seton Hall University.
Mr. Sorrells spent over 20 years in mid level and executive positions with Southwestern Bell. He has been actively involved in the community through the Governor's appointment on the State Board of Podiatry Examiners, Board of Directors of the Northeast Dallas Chamber of Commerce, multiple civic activities including Park Cities North Dallas Kiwanis and numerous political organizations. Rick currently is the chairman of the Dallas Northeast Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Sorrells is also busy with family activities. He is the father of four children: Ryan a graduate of SMU, David a senior at University of Texas at Dallas, and twins Meredith and Michael, who are in the eighth grade this school year. His wife Margaret is a teacher for the Dallas Independent School district.
